Club offering amateur radio classes

MONROE — People who are interested in running their own amateur radio station can take a step toward obtaining operator licenses during a class that is scheduled to start Wednesday, Feb. 7. 
“It’s a great opportunity to learn a new skill that our county can use,” said Gary Reid, representative for the Sevier Amateur Radio Club.
The club is offering the technician ham license class at the Monroe emergency medical services building, 665 South Main Street in Monroe. Class sessions are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Feb. 7, 14 and 21. Testing is set for Wednesday, Feb. 28.
“We will be giving the technician’s test,” Reid said. “Anyone who wants to upgrade can also come and test for that as well.”
