Fort smith area radio club

The Fort Smith Area Amateur Radio Club will host the 2018 Hanging Judge Hamfest at 8 a.m. April 7 at the Sebastian County Emergency Communications and Training Facility, 8400 S. Zero St. The event will include hourly door prizes and a flea market and tailgaters area with new and used amateur radio equipment for sale.

Admission is $5 per person at the door. Children 16 and younger admitted free with a paid adult admission.

February 3, 2018, 2000 UTC: During the last 72 hours, we continued to experience the high winds, low clouds, fog and rough seas that have prevented helicopter operations since our arrival at Bouvet. No improvement was predicted in the weather forecast for the next four days. Then, last night, an issue developed in one of the ship’s engines. 

This morning, the captain of the vessel declared it unsafe to continue with our project and aborted the DXpedition. We are now on our long voyage back to Punta Arenas. As you might imagine, the team is deeply disappointed, but safe. There is already talk about rescheduling the DXpedition,

Εξετάσεις ραδιοερασιτεχνων στην Ρόδο

Εξετάσεις για την απόκτηση πτυχίου ραδιοερασιτέχνη Α’ περιόδου, πρόκειται να πραγματοποιηθούν στη Ρόδο στις 30 Ιανουαρίου.

Στην απόφαση της Περιφέρειας Νοτίου Αιγαίου, αναφέρονται συγκεκριμένα τα εξής:

“Προκηρύσσουμε εξετάσεις για την απόκτηση Πτυχίου Ραδιοερασιτέχνη (Κατηγορίας 1 & Κατηγορίας Εισαγωγικού Επιπέδου), Α΄ περιόδου 2018, στην περιοχή ευθύνης της Περιφερειακής Ενότητας Ρόδου της Περιφέρειας Νοτίου Αιγαίου την Τρίτη 30 Ιανουαρίου 2018 με ώρα ενάρξεως 10:00.

Δικαίωμα συμμετοχής στις εξετάσεις έχουν οι πολίτες Κράτους Μέλους της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης ή του Ευρωπαϊκού Οικονομικού Χώρου (εφόσον είναι πολίτες άλλων χωρών, θα πρέπει διαθέτουν άδεια παραμονής στην Ελλάδα) οι οποίοι κατά την ημερομηνία υποβολής της αίτησης συμμετοχής τους στις εξετάσεις έχουν συμπληρώσει το 12ο έτος της ηλικίας τους και έχουν αποδεικτικό αποφοίτησης από δημοτικό σχολείο.

National amateur radio Winter Field Day starts Saturday

The 24-hour national amateur radio Winter Field Day is set to kick off Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. at the Copperas Cove Civic Center, located at 1506 W. Ave. B.
The day is held for local amateur radio operators to work together in conjunction with local emergency management agencies to practice their skills in the event of an emergency.
The event will run for 24 hours and has a lineup of free workshops that are open to the public, as is the entire event.

Club offering amateur radio classes

MONROE — People who are interested in running their own amateur radio station can take a step toward obtaining operator licenses during a class that is scheduled to start Wednesday, Feb. 7. 

“It’s a great opportunity to learn a new skill that our county can use,” said Gary Reid, representative for the Sevier Amateur Radio Club.

The club is offering the technician ham license class at the Monroe emergency medical services building, 665 South Main Street in Monroe. Class sessions are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Feb. 7, 14 and 21. Testing is set for Wednesday, Feb. 28.

“We will be giving the technician’s test,” Reid said. “Anyone who wants to upgrade can also come and test for that as well.”
